What “cited” means — exactly.
- The 10 queries are locked at signup. During onboarding we generate 10 buyer-intent queries from your category, location, and business. These are printed in your welcome email and never change. We measure against the same 10 on day 0, day 30, day 60, and day 90.
- “Cited” = your brand name appears in the AI’s answer. Not in a footnote, not as a reference link, not paraphrased — named, in the answer text, the way a customer would read it.
- Any one of the three engines counts. If you’re cited in 4 of 10 queries on ChatGPT but 0 on Perplexity and 0 on Gemini, that’s a pass. Most SignalAEO customers see lift in one engine first; signal propagates from there.
- Day 30 = 30 calendar days after your card is charged. Trial day doesn’t count toward this clock — the trial runs day 0–14 separately. The guarantee window opens the moment Recurly bills you.

- Your brand name is reasonably unique in your market — one of the onboarding questions checks for trademark conflict.
- You accepted the guarantee terms checkbox at signup.
- Your 10 buyer queries were locked during onboarding and haven’t been changed.
- Your account is in good standing (no chargebacks, no payment failures, no policy violations).
The guarantee does not apply if…
- Your brand name conflicts with a major trademark or shares a name with 50+ businesses nationally (e.g., generic “ABC Plumbing” in a market with 50 ABC Plumbings).
- You block our access to public schema, structured data, or content updates — the device farm seeds signal, but we do still publish supporting assets.
- You’re on Signal Growth ($297) or Signal Scale ($1,997+ custom). Growth doesn’t carry the guarantee; Scale’s SLA is set in your strategy call.
- The query set is changed mid-engagement at your request — locked queries protect both sides.
- An act of God, AI engine outage > 7 days, or platform-wide policy change blocks measurement — in which case we extend the SLA, not invoke it.

We monitor your 10 locked queries every day on real devices. On day 30 we run the SLA check ourselves. If we miss, our team triggers the refund and pause inside Recurly the same day, then emails you confirmation within 24 hours. You don’t fill out a form, you don’t open a support ticket, you don’t argue with anyone. The number of citations is measured; the rest is mechanical.
